History

Mizzou Swim Club was founded by Ben Smith in 2008.  Ben earned his Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and his Master's degree from Indiana University.  Ben is the former Aquatic Coordinator of Operations at the Mizzou Rec Center and currently works as the Assistant Director of Aquatics at the Indiana University Rec Center.

In 2010, Mizzou Swim Club won first place at the East Coast Collegiate Swim Club National Championships.

TEAM OFFICERS

President - Andy ritsema

Andy is a Senior from Bloomington, Illinois, studying meteorology. This is his fourth year with the team, and his second year as president of the club. His favorite event is the 100 backstroke. He says hanging out the some amazing people for a few hours a day is the best part of practice and the team. A fun fact about Andy is the that he loves playing frisbee golf and roadtripping.

Vice President - Nicholas Archambault

Nick is currently a junior from Savage, Minnesota studying Sport Management and Marketing. Nick has been on the team since his freshman year and this is his first year on the Exective Board. His favorite event is the 100 Butterfly and the 100 Backstroke. Nick joined MUSC as a way to meet new friends, create lasting memories, and to continue participating in the sport he loves. One fun fact about Nick is that he enjoys cycling and golfing. 

treasurer - Ryan Huseman

Ryan is a senior from Quincy, Illinois, studying finance and economics. He joined the swim club to meet new people and to continue his competitive swim career. His favorite event is the 50 freestyle and any other event of equal distance or less. Ryan's favorite memory of club swim is the Ohio State Fall Invitational. 


marketing chair - Jessica Lowe

Jessica is a Junior fron Naperville, Illinois. She is studying Speech Pathology and Education here at the university. This is Jessica's second year on the team, but first on the Executive Board. Her favorite event is the 50 butterfly, and her favorite memory was attending Regionals in Wisconsin!

social chair - Nicholas wiedemann

Nick Wiedemann is a Junior from Savage, Minnesota, studying Biomedical Engineering with a minor in mathematics. Some fun facts about Nick is that he enjoys woodworking and drawing in his free time. 

risk manager - Rachel Springer

Rachel is a senior from St. Peter's, Missouri, studying biomedical engineering. Her favorite event is the 100 freestyle. Rachel's favorite thing about the team is meeting new people and hanging out in the hot tub after practice. An interesting fact about Rachel is that she has treated a seizure and heart attack while lifeguarding.
