History
Mizzou Swim Club was founded by Ben Smith in 2008. Ben earned his Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and his Master's degree from Indiana University. Ben is the former Aquatic Coordinator of Operations at the Mizzou Rec Center and currently works as the Assistant Director of Aquatics at the Indiana University Rec Center.
In 2010, Mizzou Swim Club won first place at the East Coast Collegiate Swim Club National Championships.
TEAM OFFICERS
President - Andy ritsema
Andy is a Junior from Bloomington, Illinois, studying meteorology. This is his third year with the team, and his first as a member of the executive board. His favorite event is the 100 backstroke. He says hanging out the some amazing people for a few hours a day is the best part of practice and the team. A fun fact about Andy is the that he loves playing frisbee golf and roadtripping.

Vice President - Nicolas krueger
Nicolas is a senior, biology major from Wichita, Kansas. His favorite event to swim is the 50 butterfly. He says the best part of club swimming is making new friends, and he's looking forward to competing at meets again this year! Nicolas' favorite memory with the team is going to his first travel meet at The Ohio State University in 2019. If he could have one superpower, he'd want the ability to fly.
treasurer - ben owens
Our Treasurer for 2022-23 is Ben Owens! Ben is a senior from Peoria, Illinois, studying electrical engineering. He loves to swim the 50 freestyle and hang out at hot tub club after practice. Ben's favorite club memory is playing arcade games at the Northwestern meet in 2020! A fun fact about Ben is that he used to play hockey.
marketing chair - Julia Wilson
Julia Wilson is a junior from Champaign, Illinois studying Journalism and Spanish. Julia has been with the team for two years but this is her first year on the Executive board. Her favorite event is the 200 freestyle. Her favorite memory from the club is traveling to Wisconsin for regionals. Julia's fun fact is that she dislocated her knee at a Waka Flocka Flame concert in high school.
social chair - Ryan Huseman
Ryan is a junior from Quincy, Illinois, studying finance and economics. He joined the swim club to meet new people and to continue his competitive swim career. His favorite event is the 50 freestyle and any other event of equal distance or less. Ryan's favorite memory of club swim is the Ohio State Fall Invitational.
risk manager - Rachel Springer
Rachel is a junior from St. Peter's, Missouri, studying biomedical engineering. Her favorite event is the 100 freestyle. Rachel's favorite thing about the team is meeting new people and hanging out in the hot tub after practice. An interesting fact about Rachel is that she has treated a seizure and heart attack while lifeguarding.
